System
Rescue CD - GParted It
is a good open source bootable CD, that allows to
create -among other things- and modify partitions in
various formats, including the precious NTFS
(precious because free programs rarely include the
NTFS). Between the principals programs included in
the CD, there is GParted, a real free clone of
Partition Magic (also the graphics is similar), that
we will use for creating and eventually to
reorganize our partitions.
We will download ISO file (of over 100 MB) that we
have to burn with any CD Burning software (like
those here) . Such CD
must be inserted at pc boot, for starting from it.
It can also install on an USB Pen Drive and start
from it (if the BIOS of your motherboard supports
USB Boot).
IMPORTANT: System Rescue Cd/GParted is a
linux utiliti that runs fine on any Windows pc
(don't ley you be frighten from the fact that
<<Windows>> is not written anywhere, it perfectly
works), thanks to the fact that boots from DOS. It
is not really Acronis Disk Director (I
would think 100 times before reorganizing
partitions in which there are important datas),
nevertheless it is absolutely suitable for most
users.

SwissKnife It has not the same features of
commercial partitioning software
like Partition Magic or Partition
Expert, anyway SwissKnife is the
only FREE tool that allows to format
and create Partitions in NTFS
format, the best partition format for
Windows XP (old Fat32 is not on the
same level). Supports Hi-Speed USB,
PCMCIA, SATA, SCSI, USB 1.1, and
FireWire external drives.
Not so outstanding,
not many features, but 100% free..
