IRFANVIEW One of the best available free
applications for Windows. It allows
you to display images, galleries,
convert or resize images from a
format to another, rename entire
directories...in addition, it
supports a very large quantity of
graphic formats. It has been at the
top of my Top 10 Magic Freeware for
years.

XnView XnView is an
utility for viewing and converting
graphic files. It supports about 400
graphic formats in input and 50
formats in output, slideshows,
gallery creation, and a lot of batch
operations (you can modify a whole
directory of picture at once). It
can even create thumbnails.
Compared to Irfanview, it seems a
bit slower, but with more features
in batch processing. XNView in not
in 10 Top Magic, since there is
already Irfanview, which is very
similar.

FastStone
Viewer
Another great software for
slideshow. It is not fast as Irfanview, and maybe it
does not support all the hundreds of image formats
(even if the number of supported formats is high),
but has a great GUI and is excellent under any point
of view. We can also apply watermarks to pictures,
or other little effects. Great, great app.

Picasa
This software helps you find, edit
and share all the pictures on your
PC. It also makes one-click fixes
and other simple effects. You can
find, move and re-name pictures, add
a star rating to the photos you like
more, write captions that stay with
the picture even if you save it on
CD or DVD, make slide shows, create
movies from your photos and burn
them on CDs or DVD for archiving
purpose.
