It is a valid FTP client, almost identical to shareware version (that has a few features more). It has all the characteristics that we would like to see in a program of this kind, among which we remember resume of broken transfers, support of safe connections (SSL, HTTPS), site to site transfers, drag & drop, integration in the browser, control of the bandwidth of transfer and a more.

CoreFTP is probalby my favourite free FTP client.

EFTP Encrypted FTP (client and server)

EFTP is a FTP software that includes both a server and a client (can be used both to receive or to send files) of great quality. Once it was shareware, but starting from July 1 st 2008 it has become free, both to personal and commercial purpose.

The particularity of EFTP is simple to explain: it entirely allows encrypted connections, not only in file transfers, but since authentication, so that User Id and password are never transmitted in clear. To get the encrypted connections is necessary that both the server and the client of EFTP are used; it is also possible to use them separately (for example the EFTP client can connect to different types of server , like ServU, or the EFTP server can receive connections from other FTP client, like FlashFXP o FileZilla, but in this case the connections won't be encrypted).

Among the so many interesting features, I would like to report that EFTP can be installed anywhere (like in USB pen drives, and used on any pc), the Admin can automatically ban some IPs after a certain number of failed attempts, and so on.
