P2P and File Sharing

eMule
eMule is
based on the eDonkey2000 network but offers MANY more features than
the standard client, especially:
1) Credit system (more you upload -> more you download)
2) Sharing Priority (you can select which file of uploading should have a
higher prority)
With no doubt the credit system is the best improvement over edonkey:
Every client which connects to you for any reason is remebered by his
userhash (this is not your ID or IP). If this client allows you to
download or you upload to him emule saves the ammount of transfered bytes
in a file (clients.met). Everytime when a client asks you for a file these
two values a used to calculate a modifier, which affects directly his
rating and the rating affects his queue place.
Furthermore you have good statitistics and a colorful interface. You can
use even the same partial download of eDonkey! Finding and downloading
rare files is faster and easier.
A good MOD of emule is called MorphXT. Many consider it the best
client for emule you can find anywhere.
MorphXT enhances many capabilities of eMule (especially
in banning aggressive clients, and much more; that are so many
improvements that it is impossible list them all), a makes it stabler
and more efficient. Click here

BitTorrent BitTorrent is a great p2p client especially targeted
about fast downloads. It is not very similar to other file sharing apps, since you have
to start any download from a a torrent file that you find on Web, or on other
sources, like the great
Bit Che (click
here). Without a torrent file you will not go anywhere...
Anyway, it is fast. Once the stream has started, you
will download at great speeds (more than any p2p client).
I suggest use to advanced versions of BitTorrent, like
BitComet (click
here) or BitSpirit (click
here), or my preferred choice, the nice and light uTorrent,
that does not need to be installed (click
here).

DC++In Direct Connect Plus Plus there is no
multi-download and for this reason the download speed
cannot match Emule, BitTorrent, etc...
But there is a different relation between users, with the fantastic chat
integrated in the client, where everyone can ask and talk, and an
enormous number of files. It is based on single hubs, eveyone with a
few hundreds of users. Every hub can set his own rules (even you
can create a hub, if you like...).
Anyway, for using Direct Connect, you need:
- at least 5-10 GB shared (up to 100 GB and more, if you want to enter in
the best hubs)
- 3 slots opened or more
- a fast connection, at least a DSL, or you will need years to
complete a download.
- set (in the options) in passive mode if you are running behind a
firewall (or you will not be able to download anything, while
others will download from you)
If you begin to use it (at first DC may
seem more complicated than other file sharing programs), it could
become your favourite.

Shareaza
JAnother interesting p2p client is Shareaza. Simple to install, simple to use, simple to
understand... and still full of new features like the Ultrapeer and query
routing technology. The best Gnutella client, and much more (and
-furthermore- it is Open Source).
Shareaza can connect to most
networks.
