Firefox Firefox is a free, open-source web
browser based on the Mozilla
codebase. It is small, fast and easy
to use, and offers many advantages
over Internet Explorer, such as the
ability to block pop-up, or a great
control about passwords.
Firefox supports a large number
of
quality themes
which can be downloaded for free.
These themes can change the
appearance of everything from the
browser window, to dialog boxes,
buttons, menus, etc.
There is little we can say more on a browser that
is extremely famous nowadays. Very interesting is
Firefox Portable, a version that does not
require to be installed, and that can be placed
everywhere (external HDD, USB per drive, etc.)

Opera
(and Opera USB) One of
the fastest browsers. Its most evident feature is
speed, especially when reloading pages already
visited. With a few clicks of the mouse (feature
that has made Opera famous), is possible to browse
back and forward all the visited pages (who
generally visits boards and forums, with thousand of
posts and threads, should know what I mean).
Besides Opera has a good support of
downloads, including resume (downloads can be
interrupted and resumed subsequently).
Not all the sites however works correctly with
Opera, especially financial/bank account sites (even
if the positive percentage is at least of 98%). Just
like Firefox Portable, there is
Opera USB (Portable),
a very interesting and useful version.

Maxthon
Just like Firefox and Opera, it is TAB browser
(multiple windows support) and with a few use of
resources. It tries to combine the best qualities of
Opera, Internet Explorer and Firefox: the speed and
lightness of Opera, the compatibility of Explorer
and the possibilities of personalization of Firefox.
Above all, the compatibility with Internet
Explorer makes very interesting between the
alternative browsers: it supports various extensions
of Explorer and numerous plugins compatible with it
(starting from AI Roboform), with the difference
that Maxthon uses less than half the RAM of Internet
Explorer.
Really valid; nevertheless it is freeware but not
Open Source.
