This test was
one of the most long and difficult I
had to do. The method is quite
simple: I navigated for a few days
on any kind of websites, installing
any kind of garbage I was able to
find. After a while, navigating had
become extremely difficult, since
any kind of links and popup opened
in any moment; furthermore, booting
Windows was a pain, since everything
had become very slow: my pc was
ready for this test.
I create an image
of the partition, with Acronis True
Image 2009, then I proceeded in this
way: I cleaned the partition
with an antispyware, than I compared
the results running in sequence
other 3 antispyware (and I wrote
down the results). When I completed
the test, I restored the old
partition image with Acronis True
Image, and I tried again with the
next antispyware.
I did this with any antispyware of the list (that's why I needed a lot of
time)

IMPORTANT: Every
antispyware has an its own idea of what spyware is,
so some antispywares are more restrictive, other
less. There are some Antispywares very restrictive,
like CounterSpy or A-Squared free, other less
restrictive. For example, some (like CounterSpy)
consider the download manager Flashget like spyware,
while others do not. The question is: who is right?
At this point, only the user can decide what doing,
choosing if he prefers to let some doubtful apps on
his computer, or not. After
this test, we can see that the partially free
antispywares (generally they allow to scan and
remove malware from pc, but do not allow real-time
protection in the free version) perform well,
especially Malwarebytes AntiMalware (very strong in
removing persistent spyware), A-Squared Free and the
ever green Ad-Aware. |
